ABOUT OUR PRESENTER
Svastha Yoga Institute founder and director Monique Parker returns for her fifth retreat as a Mandala Center facilitator. A dedicated yoga practitioner of 19 years and a yoga teacher for 12, Monique works with students from across the US, synthesizing the fundamentals of asana, yoga psychology, pranayama, mantra, and chant. She has over 900 hours of yoga teacher training and has mentored dozens of apprentice teachers. In 2009, she co-founded the Yoga Teacher Certification Program at the University of New Mexico-Taos. She is on the board of the Mandala Center and was named one of the “Remarkable Women of Taos” in 2012.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Join Monique Parker as she leads you step-by-step into a journey of personal transformation using the ancient and practical tools of yoga. Everyone needs the time to unplug from the stress of daily life to delve deeper into spiritual practice.
Through breath-centered mindful asana classes, Vedic chanting, meditation, and guided exercises and discussions about the philosophical roots of yoga psychology, you learn how to live a more authentic, happy and healthy life.
The Mandala Center is the perfect sanctuary for Monique’s annual summer retreat, providing both refuge and comfort for those longing for a place to re-discover our innate wisdom and reawaken the heart.
This weekend with Monique includes periods of silence as well as the safety and support of interpersonal sharing. Discover for yourself the value of mantra japa meditation and yoga as exercise for relieving emotional stress and negative thinking and helping you to experience a stronger, more flexible, healthy body.
Yoga has helped with stress release and I also think I have been able to play tennis without injury this last year because of doing yoga. - Ed, aged 72
Yoga builds better health and better relationships and has done wonders for me! I wasn’t looking for anything when I stumbled into yoga about a year ago, but I thought I’d give it a try for a couple of months. I soon noticed positive changes in my life, and I couldn’t attribute them to anything other than yoga. I have always been an athletic guy, but yoga has improved my "game" and every day function more than any other conditioning. Our sessions with Monique Parker at The Mandala Center in August, 2013, created an atmosphere that made it possible to share with the other participants, and thus build better relationships and better health. If you are over 50 and you aren’t doing yoga, I would urge you to give it a try. Yoga has made my life a whole lot more pleasurable and I advocate it wherever I go! - Tommy, aged 76
