ABOUT OUR PRESENTER
Monique Parker, MFA, E-YRT, is a yoga educator inspired by the Svastha Yoga tradition of A.G. and Indra Mohan. She is the director and co-founder of the Yoga Teacher Training Program at the University of New Mexico-Taos. She specializes in yoga therapy and individualized practice through breath-centric movement. For the past decade she has worked with students from all over the US, synthesizing the fundamentals of asana, yoga psychology, pranayama, mantra, and chant. Her lifestyle is reflected in her teachings: Nine years ago she gave up a lucrative career in Silicon Valley to move to the Latir Wilderness at the base of the Sangre de Christo Mountains in Northern New Mexico, where she teaches and lives in accordance with Yogic and Ayurvedic principles. For more information about Monique go to her website at www.classicyogaofindia.com.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The SvasthaYoga Immersion retreat is an ideal way to unplug from familiar surroundings and responsibilities in order to break through accumulated habits of distractions that perpetuate our lives, while affording the space and solitude for the development of a daily spiritual practice. Whether you need to gain perspective, embark on a new wellness path, or delve more deeply into your existing yoga practice, this retreat will give you the inspiration and practical tools to develop a “Yoga habit” that you can take home and integrate into your life.
This retreat will help you to gain greater understanding of the Yogic path and its benefits: physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Morning and afternoon practices will include simple and effective asanas that can be adapted to your fitness level. In this way, we prepare the body to sit so that we can experience the power of pranayama, chanting, and meditation, all of which cultivate inner peace.
A knowledgeable and compassionate guide, Monique Parker offers a practical approach for anyone regardless of age, fitness level, or experience. She shares this system of yoga directly from her yoga masters, A.G. and Indra Mohan of Chennai, India, both of whom were personal students of the legendary Sri T. Krishnamacharya, the father of modern yoga.
*For a small fee participants can receive an individualized yoga session with Monique which includes a yoga practice designed specifically for them. See our fee section below.
