2018 Workshops

Loretta Butler, RN
Reiki Master / Karuna Reiki Master
Friday, February 9th – Sunday, February 11th

Loretta is a registered nurse by profession. Starting in 1978 she worked until 2011... in hospitals for 29 years, then in Public Health, and finally at MCMC Long Term Care. In 2011, she began managing the family ranch east of Raton, but still continues to use Reiki in daily living and for treatment requests from friends.

Loretta became very interested in healing with the hands after taking a workshop on Therapeutic Touch in 1992. She took classes over 4 years to become a Healing Touch Practitioner in 1996, and from 1997 to 2001 was Certified in Healing Touch. Healing Touch is an organization started by Janet Mentgen, RN, that encompasses many healers' techniques.

Loretta learned Usui/Tibetan Reiki I & II in 2000, Advanced Reiki Technique (ART)/Reiki Master training in 2002 and took Karuna Reiki Master training in 2007. She retook Usui/Holy Fire ART/Reiki Master Training in 2014. Loretta has treated a large number of clients over the years, and has taught classes. She is a member of the Reiki Membership Association. It’s purpose is to maintain a professional image for the members while at the same time preserving the spirit of Reiki and assist members in creating a thriving Reiki practice.

You will learn about this Japanese relaxation technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind, and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation, and feelings of peace, security, and wellbeing. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

In Usui/Holy Fire II Reiki I you will:

  • Learn about the origins of Reiki and the Reiki Masters.
  • Demonstrate, learn, and practice with Gassho meditiation, Reiji-ho, Byosen Scanning, and Kenyoku.
  • Demonstrate hand positions for treating self and others. Practice in class.
  • Experience the Reiki I placement.
  • Be able to discuss the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

In Usui/Holy Fire II Reiki II you will:

  • Memorize Reiki II symbols and meanings.
  • Expand their consciousness and healing abilities through the Experiences and Placements.
  • Demonstrate, learn, and practice Gyoshi-ho and Enkaku chiryo.
  • Perform treatments on fellow students using new symbols.
  • Feel comfortable in performing a complete treatment for client.
